Firefly Recovery Review
We Used Firefly Recovery to Beat Jet Lag!
Long International Flights Are Rough on Your Body
Anyone who has taken a long-haul international flight knows the feeling. You land excited to be somewhere amazing, but your body feels heavy, stiff, and completely out of sync. That post-flight fog and leg fatigue can easily steal the first couple of days of a trip.
Before our recent trip to Japan, I decided to try something new: the Fireflies Recovery device. I had read that it supports circulation, helps with leg fatigue, and can make recovery after long flights easier. I was hopeful, but still a bit skeptical.
After this trip, I can honestly say it made a noticeable difference. Especially for my 6’5 husband!
One important note: the device is rated for ages 13 and up, so my 13-year-old was able to use it as well, which made it even more interesting to see how we all felt after such a long flight.
Firefly Recovery
What Is the Fireflies Recovery Device?
The Fireflies Recovery device is a small wearable that attaches to your lower leg and uses gentle electrical muscle stimulation to help keep blood moving while you’re sitting for long periods, like on an airplane. Long flights often mean hours of very little movement, which can leave your legs feeling stiff, swollen, and heavy.
It sounds technical, but using it was simple. We put it on during the flight, turned it on, and then went about the trip as usual, watching movies, eating, and trying to rest.
On past international trips, I’ve always noticed the same pattern. By the time we land, my legs feel tight and heavy, my energy is low, and even walking through the airport feels like more effort than it should. The first day is usually about pushing through exhaustion while my body tries to adjust to the new time zone.
Jet lag tends to hit hard, especially with such a big time difference, and the first couple of days can feel like a blur of tiredness.

Our Experience Using Fireflies on the Flight to Japan
During the flight, I noticed my legs didn’t develop that same stiff, cement-like feeling I usually get after sitting for so many hours. Normally, halfway through a long-haul flight, I’m constantly shifting in my seat trying to get comfortable. This time, I felt more physically relaxed, and my feet didn’t feel as swollen when we landed.
My long-legged husband was blown away! He says his legs have never felt better, allowing him to sit for longer periods of time without the cramping or stiffness.
The Biggest Difference Happened After We Landed
This is where I was most surprised.
Usually, after an international flight, I feel drained and sluggish, and that deep travel fatigue sets in fast. But when we arrived in Japan, after checking into the hotel, we were able to go out and start exploring instead of immediately needing to rest.
I didn’t have the same heavy, worn-down feeling I normally have on arrival day. Jet lag was still part of the experience; you can’t completely override time zones, but the adjustment felt smoother. We didn’t go through the extreme crash-and-burn cycle we’ve experienced on other big trips, and those first couple of days felt more manageable.
Small and easy to travel with
Is It a Cure for Jet Lag?
I don’t see it as a magic solution. We still made sure to drink water, move around when possible, and try to sleep at the right times once we arrived. But as part of an overall travel routine, the Fireflies Recovery device for long flights clearly helped with leg comfort and how we felt after landing.
Final Thoughts: Is Fireflies Worth It for Travel?
After several international trips over the years, this was the smoothest I’ve ever felt landing after such a long-haul flight. Less leg fatigue, an easier adjustment, and more energy to actually enjoy Japan right away made a big difference.
The Fireflies Recovery device has earned a permanent spot in our travel bag. When something helps you feel better faster after a long flight, it’s hard not to call that a win.
