Spider-Man 2: Our Go-to Controller
“Why review just the PS5 controller and not the faceplates?” you ask. Well, because I didn’t buy the whole set, okay? I snagged one preorder, and I had to make the grown-up decision to prioritize practicality over extra flair. So, I went with the controller. Don’t get me wrong—the faceplates looked cool too, but I had to choose wisely.
Would you buy it after seeing this image?
And let me tell you, zero regrets. None. This works just like any regular PS5 controller, but it looks like it’s been infected by Venom’s symbiote vibes in the best way possible. It’s sleek, dramatic, and practically hisses, “I’m here to game.” My kid won’t even consider playing Spider-Man 2 with any other controller now. It’s constantly docked on the charger because it’s our #1 pick for gaming sessions.
Wish it has some shine to it!
That said, I have some beef with Sony’s marketing team. I mean, was the promo strategy just vague vibes and a prayer? The marketing was so meh that I’m pretty sure a lot of people just didn’t bother preordering it. Honestly, if Sony used my photos of the controller, it probably would’ve sold out faster. (Not to brag—okay, totally to brag—but their promo pics were sad. Do better, Sony.)
It’s an over-all beauty
Now, there are a few things I wish they’d done to level it up. Imagine if the Venom had a glossy finish to give it that shiny, slimy look. And why stop there? Why not have the goo raised a little too? Missed opportunity, if you ask me.
But overall? This controller is a statement. It screams Spider-Man 2 and Venom in the most awesome way possible. Would I buy it again? Absolutely. Final verdict: 7/10. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re a Spider-Man and Venom fan – this one’s for you!
Would’ve been an 9/10 if the symbiote was slimy. Just saying.
